Tuesday 14th October, An early start again but this time the group got into 3 cars and we made our way up the winding roads to The Horton Plains National Park
We spent a couple of hours along this road hoping for the Sri Lanka Whistling Thrush but with such dense undergrowth it was not to be, I was hoping to see the Sri Lanka Bush Warbler better than I did last time I was here. This time it put on a good show but hard to photograph as it continually moved within the dense foliage.

Our return journey back to the hotel for lunch took us over the railway crossing at the highest point of the Sri Lanka Railway at 1900 metres, with my interest in railways I had to stop and get a couple of photos.

After lunch at the hotel we went to Victoria Park, it was far quieter than 2 years ago but the highlight was seeing a brief Sri Lanka Scimitar Babler and a returning Kashmir Flycatcher.

Wednesday 15th, not quite such an early start as we took the short journey to the Scout Camp road our last chance for the Sri Lanka Scaly Thrush but despite searching one couldn't be found. We did however see several Sri Lanka Wood Pigeons unlike my previous visit. However they were distant and in silhouette.

We also saw another Sri Lanka Bush Warbler but my camera wouldn't focus on it for some reason and then a Bar-winged Flycatcher Shrike and the camera worked.

Our break in the journey was at the tea castle where some of the group made a purchase. In the gardens it was fairly quiet bird wise other than this Scaly Munia.
