Friday 3rd Feb Looking for Bitterns

With the ground now totally frozen and most pools frozen over, this afternoons dog walk was to Castle Water to find my first Bittern of the winter despite several failed attempts. On arrival in the hide a birder kindly pointed out 3 seperate Bitterns all posing on the far bank. Tipical I didn't bring the camera.
