Monday 6th Feb, trying again for Bittern.

With plenty of snow still around his afternoon I took a trip to the ARC pit, as I walked along the track to the Hanson hide a brief view of a bittern flying was all I could find, all the usual ducks in large numbers.

A pair of Gooseanders was a nice surprise but weren't around long enough for the camera, no Smew to be seen but a Black-necked Grebe was on New Diggings. The reserve was still closed.

At Castle Water viewpoint for dusk nothing moved other than geese coming into roost and a male Marsh Harrier hunting over the reed beds
