About Me

I am a novice to birding and have become interested since walking Frank our dog, a cross Flat Coat / Springer around Hastings Country Park and the surrounding area, I realised the little brown birds weren't just sparrows.

Sunday 5th Feb SWW trip to Dungeness cancelled

With 4 -5 inches of snow overnight our trip had been cancelled, RSPB reserve closed so took myself and camera over to Castle Water for those Bitterns

Occasionall Marsh Harriers cruised over

From the hide hundreds of Teal, Wigeon, Shoveler, and Cootes were on the ice, the snow had flattened
a lot of the reeds a Water Rail ran quickly acroos in front of the hide and a couple of the many Snipe were making a rasping noise at the side of the hide.

No sign of any Bittern, but my fingers were becoming frost bitten.
Back home a Woodcock flew over the garden, and a Bullfinch by the Post Office.
